Auckland Airport offers domestic travellers a dose of retail therapy

Auckland Airport is bringing international terminal shopping experience to domestic travellers.

The airport’s click-and-collect marketplace The Mall will allow domestic travellers to buy a range of premium, sought-after or ‘airport exclusive’ products normally available only to international travellers.

“The impact of Covid-19 on Auckland Airport and our retail partners has been significant, but we are moving fast to support new ways for our retailers to do business and connect with their customers,” said Jonathan Good, GM technology and marketing at Auckland Airport.

“This investment in The Mall was about providing the digital infrastructure to support their success.”

Participating retailers include Saben, NZH Health & Beauty and Walker & Hall. The company said it will scale up the product range with Michael Kors and Tumi coming on board during the next couple weeks.

“Even though this was a move into a different market the response from our retailers has been great. They straight away understood this was an opportunity to stay connected with their customers while there is limited international travel,” Jonathan added.

Launched in 2018, The Mall offers more than 5000 products from retail stores based at the airport through a click-and-collect service.
