Yu Mei and Wellington City Mission team up

Luxury leather goods brand Yu Mei has launched a fundraising campaign with the Wellington City Mission.

Called ‘Bags for All’, the campaign aims to bring awareness to The Mission’s retail store and its broader role in community work.

Yu Mei will provide 100 handbags crafted in its Wellington studio to The Wellington City Mission’s Taranaki Street store which will be sold for a considerably lower price than usual, the proceeds going to the mission.

“This unique partnership means that the proceeds from the sale of the bags will not only go towards helping us deliver the programs and services we provide on a daily basis, but also promote and share the commonalities between both our brands and values,” said Jeremy Neeve, GM social enterprise at The Wellington City Mission.

Proceeds from the store will be funnelled back into the community services and programs provided by The Wellington City Mission.

“It’s a purpose-driven and sustainable way to partner with a charity long-term,” said Jessie Wong, founder of Yu Mei. “It is our hope that Bags for All will become an annual campaign, and will inspire other businesses to think creatively about how they can make a difference in their community.”

According to the Wellington City Mission, Westpac became the major sponsor of the ‘Bags for All’ initiative with 40 bags donated to the cause.

Yu Mei bags will be available at the City Mission’s Taranaki Street store from this Saturday, October 10.
