NPT has entered into conditional agreements to lease a substantial area of Eastgate Shopping Centre, which is currently vacant, and to construct additional food outlets at Eastgate.

The vacant area on the upper level of the centre has been unoccupied since the centre reopened following the Christchurch earthquakes.

This entire area will be occupied by Linwood Medical Centre, which will relocate from its current site to a new Integrated Family Health Centre, and a cluster of social services providers including Aviva, Barnardos, Family Help Trust, START, Red Cross and He Waka Tapu.

These proposals will enhance the value and income from Eastgate once the conditions are satisfied and the projects are completed.

Eastgate is well located on the intersection of Buckley’s Road and Linwood Avenue and occupies a high profile position about three kilometres east of the Christchurch CBD.

It has over 30 stores, including flagships Countdown, The Warehouse, Number 1 Shoes and Lincraft, as well as a a 300-seat food court.
