Hamleigh Holdings, a liquidated franchise operator behind two Stirling Sports stores in Christchurch, has been revealed to owe more than $2.2 million to creditors.

Its liquidation was first announced on October 28, with Insolvency Matters appointed as the liquidators. It estimated the amount owed to creditors to be $760,000 in November.

The creditors include Nike, New Era Cap NZ, Frank Green, and Lorna Jane.

Now, six months later, the liquidators have revealed that creditors of all classes are owed $2.245 million, a roughly 195 per cent increase from the first estimation.

Brenton Hunt of Insolvency Matters revealed that the sale of plant, stock and equipment has returned $97,008 in cash, while $19,596 of staff wages have been returned.

The two Christchurch store leases have also been exited. The liquidation process is expected to be completed within the next six months.
