Ethical fashion brand Nisa Clothing has partnered with Wellington City Mission’s Social Supermarket to provide sustainable underwear to those in need.
The supermarket is a dignified support initiative for people struggling to afford groceries and essential household items. Instead of being given a pre-selected product parcel, individuals can choose their grocery items from a supermarket-like environment.
Upon arriving, people are given certain “points” to spend. Nissa underwear will be available for 0 points, allowing consumers to get more items since it won’t limit their spending.
Pam Lowe, CEO at Nisa, said the initiative is how the company wants to give back to the community.
“A simple thing like having a nice pair of undies can boost confidence and help people start their day feeling good,” said Lowe. “This initiative is close to our hearts.”
Selena Mills, social supermarket team leader at Wellington City Mission, added that the donated garments will make a difference for those who are not as fortunate as those who cannot access essential items.
“Underwear can seem like such a basic everyday item, but for some people going through tough times, they can be a luxury,” said Mills. “We’re really grateful to Nisa for their kindness.”
