Shein is teaming up with cartoon icon Betty Boop to develop a capsule collection that combines old aspects with modern flair.
The Betty Boop x Shein partnership is the first between the Chinese fast-fashion retailer and the character’s rights holder Fleischer Studios. It features a diverse collection of clothing and accessories intended to convey the essence of Betty Boop.
“Betty Boop has been a symbol of style, joy, and empowerment for over 90 years, and we’re thrilled to continue sharing her with a new generation of fashion enthusiasts,” said Mark Fleischer, president and CEO of Fleischer Studios.
First introduced in 1930, Betty Boop was designed by Max Fleischer for his “Talkartoons” series, the world’s first animated “talkies” produced for Paramount Studios.
Betty was voiced by Mae Questel and appeared in more than 100 cartoons, 90 of which are part of the official Betty Boop series, which ended in 1939.
The collection is available on Shein’s website, with prices ranging between $1 and $30.
Last month, Shein and US luxury label Monse unveiled a new collection for the Shein X program, which supports independent artists and designers.
