Lululemon sets out to ‘disrupt’ outerwear category

Athletic apparel retailer Lululemon has launched a new Hike collection featuring 33 lightweight pieces that it says it hopes will disrupt the outerwear category.

To make hiking easier and more comfortable, breathable fabrics are used to reduce friction when climbing and resist abrasion. A proprietary technology using LiftOS recalibrates weight distribution and relieves pressure points while hiking.

The material is stretchable, packable and adjustable featuring cinched waistbands, mesh fabrications, and zip-on/off elements.

A sports bra and shorts in this collection transform into swimwear ensuring an easy transition between land and water sports.

Ben Stubbington,  senior VP of design and concepts at Lululemon, said: “We wanted this collection to be about the functionality lululemon is known for, elevated with adaptable details for outdoor adventures like packable, lightweight layering systems, fashion-forward aesthetic and colours with abrasion-resistant, highly breathable fabrics.”
