Sustainable apparel brand Allbirds is to be stocked by US department store chain, Nordstrom. 

Starting from next month, this is part of the brand’s strategy to tie the knot with retailers as well as expand its sales and boost profit. 

Allbirds says a range of its shoes, including the company’s signature wool sneakers, will be available in 14 Nordstrom stores. The range will also be listed on Nordstrom’s website as well as Center Stage in New York City and more Nordstrom stores later this year. 

Allbirds products are built with renewable materials, and Nordstrom says it aims to ensure 15 per cent of its products qualify for its Sustainable Style category. 

“Partnering with a sustainability leader like Allbirds allows Nordstrom to better act on our brand promise to deliver the most relevant selection from brands that matter most to our customers,” said Tacey Powers, executive VP and general merchandising manager, Shoes at Nordstrom. 

The two brands teamed up in 2018 when Allbirds was featured in a Nordstrom exhibit, marking the first collaboration of Allbirds with another retail partner. 

“This natural next step will bring more sustainable choices to a new group of customers, allowing us to further educate consumers on carbon emissions and impact through our carbon labels,” added Travis Boyce, Allbirds VP, business development.
