From iconic fashion designer Carla Zampatti and leading luxury jewellery designer Nicola Cerrone, to chairperson of Harris Farm Markets Catherine Harris, some of the country’s most successful Italian-Australian entrepreneurs are starring in a new SBS documentary.
The 11-part series called “The Italians” will air tonight, December 13, and share the fascinating stories and lives of Italian Australian business people from the perspectives of migrants and their children.
The documentary features one of Zampatti’s last interviews before she passed away earlier this year. Other notable personalities that are featured include Les Schirato, CEO of coffee manufacturing giant Vittoria, which has a connection to Australia dating from 1880.
In another episode, Chris and Anthony De Lorenzo, directors of haircare brand, De Lorenzo, share the story of how their fathers Vincent and Anton De Lorenzo first established the business in 1987.
“The series highlights the contribution of Italian Australians over the years and the vast impact this has had on Australia. The series also looks to inspire Italian Australia to connect with their Italian heritage. These are only some of the numerous Italian Australian success stories, and we intend to feature more tales of triumph in “The Italians” second seasons,” said Co.As.It. general manager, Thomas Camporeale in a statement.
