Home-grown brand Partridge Jewellers is joining the big league, opening a new boutique in Westfield Newmarket’s Home of Luxury.

Management of the 150-year-old company describes the boutique as “the next chapter” in its history adding it expects to set “a new benchmark” for local luxury brands.

“We have always been proud of the company we’ve kept and our new boutique is no different,” said Grant Partridge, fifth-generation owner of the family business. “As the only New Zealand-owned brand located within this area of the Westfield development, we can’t wait to deliver a stunning line-up of watches and jewellery amongst some of the world’s most renowned names in luxury retail.”

Designed by Izzard Design, which also created the brand’s Lambton Quay, Wellington, and Queen Street, Auckland, stores, the Newmarket boutique is described as sitting between the contemporary and the traditional, “reflecting the idea of modern luxury in the materiality and ambience of the space.”

The interior features natural-veined marble, velvet and aged brass to create an indulgent backdrop to the jewellery.

“We wanted to invite people into a space that had a sense of hospitality, slow down the pace of retail, you can sit at the bar and really enjoy the experience of buying a beautiful piece of jewellery or a watch,” said senior designer Hannah Davies.

The new space, not to mention ritzy neighbours, has allowed Partridge to add new brands to its lineup, including DeBeers Forevermark, Omega, Cartier, Panerai, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Breitling and Chopard. They join Grand Seiko, Tudor, Longines, Tag Heuer, Italian jewellery marque Fope & Roberto Coin and Swiss brand Piaget.

With the opening of the new site, Partridge Jewellers will close its Broadway store early next year.
