World’s first Oreo cafe launches in US

Mondelez International-owned cookie brand Oreo has introduced its first cafe in New Jersey’s East Rutherford.

Oreo fans now can get their favourite merchandise and Oreo treats and beverages at It’Sugar candy department stores where the Oreo Cafe is located. Spanning 3500 sqft, the cafe houses what it called “a first-of-its kind treats bar”, where customers can customise their treats or pick from a range of Oreo-inspired desserts.

Oreo said on social media that it made an exclusive secret menu item for its followers – the Oreo Donut S’Morewich. Besides the dessert menu, the store also offers Oreo-branded merchandise such as apparel, tote bags, and home decors.

The Oreo cookie was first developed and produced by the National Biscuit Company in 1912 in Chelsea, New York. The US’ best-selling cookie brand is now available in more than 100 countries. Many varieties of Oreo cookies have been produced, and limited-edition runs have become popular over the century.
