As a founder, this is not a step I take lightly as San Churro represents the sum total of everything I have worked to achieve throughout my career,” Maurici said. “I can only do this confidently because of the terrific team and brand we have built, knowing that my successor will be taking over a business in great shape and poised to grow even more.”
In an interview with Inside Retail in 2017, Maurici said he was inspired to launch his business after travelling through Europe and discovered the rich history Spain had with chocolate and in particular, how that history has manifested in Madrid’s Chocolateria San Gines.
Prior to opening his San Churro business, Maurici worked in the finance sector.
CEO of The Horse to depart
Paul Waddy, CEO of leather lifestyle goods brand The Horse, , announced he is leaving the company to move on to anundisclosed project.
“I now move on to helping other online businesses scale profitably and quickly,” Waddy said. “I’ll post more in the coming weeks.”
An experienced e-commerce executive, adviser, and speaker, Waddy was with Showpo working as head of operations before he joined The Horse. He has also helped other companies with the execution of key projects.
The Horse is a Sydney-based business owned and operated by Scott and Amy Hawkes.
Authentic Brands Group appoints EMEA president
To bolster its efforts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Authentic Brands Group has appointed a new president for the region.
Henry Stupp, who recently served as CEO of US clothing and footwear company Apex Global Brands, will spearhead the business’ expansion across EMEA and India as it continues to diversify its portfolio.
“Henry is an experienced and successful leader who brings valuable insight to ABG,” said Jarrod Weber, group president Lifestyle, chief brand officer of ABG. “His proven track record in connecting licensed brands with best-in-class partners and driving distribution are important attributes that we believe will fuel ABG’s continued commitment to brand growth in the region.”
Stupp will be located in London where he will open and oversee a new office for Authentic Brands Group which owns and operates Forever 21, Barneys, and Juicy Couture.
