New Zealand’s first online clothes-swapping platform Swapology has launched.
The platform is designed for users to swap items from their existing wardrobes for other pre-owned designs, creating a sustainable solution for clothing waste. More than 300 pieces are now available for exchange on Swapology.
“This has been a dream of mine since 2015, when I was exposed to the sheer amount of textile waste happening in New Zealand alone,” said founder Alice Wills-Johnson.
“I wanted to make shopping for clothes easier, better for the environment, and more enjoyable – in knowing someone has done a thorough quality check of each piece of ‘new to you’ clothing.”
The platform operates on a points system which allows people earn points as they send their clothes in and spend their points to ‘buy’ clothes. There are three membership options available – monthly, quarterly and annually.
“We accept all brands, sizes and styles, as long as the clothing is in quality condition,” said Wills-Johnson.
“Swapology isn’t your usual online store therefore we rely on people sending in their clothing and our stock depends on our ‘swapologists’. As we expand, the range will expand too.”
