Apparel company PVH Brands Australia will open its first Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein stores in New Zealand at Commercial Bay later this month.

Both the 179sqm Tommy Hilfiger store and the 100sqm Calvin Klein store will open at the end of August.

The Commercial Bay development was opened a couple of months ago after a few delays in the construction of the project.

The $690 million development, built by Fletcher Properties, is a three-level retail and hospitality precinct that features more than 120 local and international shopping and dining options located in laneways and open-air spaces.

The project features an 18,000sqm retail space and 39,000sqm office space.

Peter Reidy, Fletcher Construction chief executive, said the project is so much more than a building or a retail and hospitality precinct. It is an ambitious development which will transform Auckland’s CBD and waterfront, returning the area to a centre of trade and activity in the city.

Last year, PVH Brands Australia finalised its acquisition of Gazal Corporation, the company’s long-term partner in Australia.

The acquisition gave PVH ownership of the Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, Nancy Ganz, Pierre Cardin, Fred Bracks, and Paramount brands in the region, and supports the group’s strategy to have a more direct hand in the direction of its brands in the Asia-pacific region – having recently re-purchased the licence in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan.
