H&M announces second Christchurch store to open in November

Fashion retailer H&M has announced it will open a second Christchurch store on November 7.

Situated in Westfield Riccarton Shopping Centre, the store will span 2000 square metres, and feature apparel and accessories for men, women, youth, kids and babies.

“We are thrilled to be expanding in Christchurch,” H&M New Zealand country sales manager Daneil Lattemann said.

“Westfield Riccarton is a great location for H&M and we look forward to presenting a second unique and exciting shopping experience to customers in the area.”

H&M already runs seven stores across New Zealand, including The Crossing in Christchurch.

The retailer said in June it would open fewer stores during the 2019 year, as it continues to invest further into improving its online offer.

H&M chief executive Karl-Johan Persson said the integration of the business’ on- and offline channels, as well as other extensive investments, would drive costs in the short term.

“Our new online platform and our new logistics systems have not yet achieved full efficiency, but for customers have resulted in improvements such as faster and more flexible deliveries and a more seamless shopping experience,” Persson said.

The company said they are aiming to further integrate H&M’s digital and physical stores to give customers a seamless, personalised and engaging shopping experience no matter where, when and how they shop.
