New stores to open as part of $115m Bayfair development

bayfairMore than 30 new stores are set to open in Mount Maunganui’s Bayfair Shopping Centre in early December, as part of the Tauranga suburb’s $115 million development.

Seed Heritage, The Source Bulk Foods and Peter Alexander are among the more than 30 retailers opening their doors in the first week of December, with a final stage to open in late 2019.

The development will expand the centre’s footprint by 9000sqm to a total of 42,000sqm and specialty retail range by 50 to a total of 150 stores, including a strong fashion mix new to the centre and the region.

Besides Seed Heritage, The Source Bulk Foods and Peter Alexander, new-to-the-region businesses include Cotton On Mega, Dotti, Macpac, Portmans, Jacqui E, The Cosmetic Clinic, Mecca Maxima, Platypus Shoes, Redcurrent, Collette, Mirrou and yd.

“Bayfair is on its way to having it all – alfresco dining, superb entertainment and the best in retail, all under one roof,” Steve Ellingford, Bayfair’s centre manager, said.

“We are pleased to be introducing not only some of New Zealand’s most popular clothing and lifestyle brands but also brands that represent the sustainable future that Bayfair has been creating and advocating for since 2003.”

On completion, Bayfair will a fully integrated, single-level, enclosed shopping centre with 1800 car park spaces and cycle parking. The alfresco dining precinct, with up to eight restaurants and casual food eateries, including licensed operators, will complement the nearby cinema complex.

The centre, which is managed by AMP Capital on behalf of co-owners AMP Capital Shopping Centre, is remaining open during the development.
