Rising demand forces e-tailer into massive warehouse buy

4.Adulttoymegastore_staff_members_Sophie_McGrath__Emma_Hewitt_and_Janelle_Cheesman.Rising demand for sex toys has forced kiwi online adult toy retailer Adulttoymegastore, into moving to a warehouse 10 times the size of its current premises, to keep up with the store’s high demand and growth.

Adulttoymegastore has purchased a 3,500 square metre premise in Grenada North, Porirua, which is set to become the largest warehouse specifically for adult toys in New Zealand.

The Wellington-based online adult toy and lingerie retailer that started in 2009 and seen substantial growth, including entering the Australian market, and the retailer has plans in motion to expand to further countries, including the USA.

Adulttoymegastore’s head office will remain on Haining Street in Te Aro, Wellington, while warehouse operations will move to its new premise on Dragon Street in Grenada North.

The move began yesterday, with the transition expected to take three to four weeks, according to Adulttoymegastore warehouse logistics manager Rohan Whyte.

“Continuing to provide our customers with the best possible service during the move is our top priority, so we’ve planned for the move to the new warehouse to run over a month to ensure minimal disruption to normal operations,” he said.

“It’s a very exciting time for us. Logistically, it’s going to be much more efficient for the team, and ultimately better for our customers, because the new warehouse has the capacity to hold millions of products.”

Adulttoymegastore marketing executive, Emma Hewitt, said business is as busy as ever, which triggered the need for the retailer to move to a larger warehouse.

She said the new location will mean Adulttoymegastore will no longer need to house stock in multiple locations.

“The new warehouse is a big step forward for us because it shows just how much we have grown over the years.

“This move is a testament to Adulttoymegastore’s growth, and reinforces the fact that we’re the New Zealand retailer that kiwis come to for everything adult – whether it’s to gain knowledge, share experiences or to buy toys to add to their collection.

“Our customers are from all walks of life – they’re 18 and over, with some of our customers in their 80s, which goes to show that our audience is rather diverse,” said Hewitt.

Adulttoymegastore was recently revealed as a finalist for three categories at the Retail NZ Top Shop Awards to be held later this year.

“Buying sex toys from Adulttoymegastore is so popular because people feel at ease shopping with us. They don’t feel judged for what products they buy – it’s private, discreet and stress-free,” said Adulttoymegastore content executive, Janelle Cheesman.

“Adulttoymegastore is proudly New Zealand owned and operated and we’re always finding new ways to make shopping with us even better for our customers.”
