Trade Me signs employment pledge

NSX-listed online marketplace Trade Me has partnered with Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) as part of a program trademe_editaimed at tackling youth unemployment in Auckland.

Trade Me is the latest signatory of the Youth Employer Pledge Program, which is helping 23,000 young job seekers in Auckland find employment.

Trade Me brings the number of companies across construction, hospitality and retail industries pledged to 59.

Head of Trade Me jobs, Jeremy Wade, said that more than 50,000 people search for a new job on Trade Me daily, making the partnership a natural extension.

“As an employer, we know the value of hiring young people to inject new ideas and enthusiasm into our work and we want to do our bit to address the challenge of getting young people into jobs,” he said.

“We’ll be keeping Auckland’s young people top of mind when working with our job advertisers and making it as easy as possible to connect with young jobseekers,” he added.
