Kiwi fashion brand launches across ditch

HufferStreetwear label, Huffer, has expanded into Australia with the opening of two stores in Sydney.

Founded in New Zealand, the fashion brand opened its first flagship store located in the inner-city suburb of Newtown, to be followed by a second store in Bondi at the end of October.

After selling in streetwear boutique retailers in Australia for over 14 years, Huffer is now found in over 150 stores across Australasia.

The Newtown and Bondi stores, in addition to the five flagship stores in New Zealand, are hubs which will support the brand and tell the Huffer story, as well as amplify the brands strong wholesale business in Australia.

“We’ve always recognised the opportunities that Australia presents, but up until now our focus has been on building the business in New Zealand,” said Steve Dunstan, co-founder and director, Huffer.

“Now’s the perfect time to make the move – we know it’s not going to be easy but we’re up for the challenge. We’re keen to get on the ground, get people involved and develop a Huffer community.

“We are into supporting and empowering communities so they can create their own success stories. Collaborations are important to us and we look forward to building relationships and connecting with like-minded, successful people and businesses.”

Huffer has previously collaborated with other international brands including Audi, on a Huffer edition Audi A1, Allpress Coffee, Absolut Vodka and Red Bull.

The fashion brand said “a fresh and exciting product offering has been developed for the Australian market, however the in-store look and experience, while incorporating elements from the surrounding area, will replicate those in New Zealand.”

The stores will launch with the company’s summer range; ‘Tans, cans and no real plans’ – a mixture of stripes, wet denim and bleached pastels.
