Clemenger’s focus on data, direct and loyalty

Clemenger GroupThe Clemenger Group New Zealand announced today a major initiative for a greater focus on its data, direct and loyalty capabilities and resources. As a result, justONE will become the Trans-Tasman lead on loyalty programs across the group. This change will take effect January 1, 2016.

To enable this initiative, current MD of .99 and justONE, Ben Goodale, will move back into a justONE role as MD and lead the Trans-Tasman initiative. Goodale has been in his dual role of managing director of retail specialist .99 and justONE for more than two years. In that time, .99 has strengthened its retail/production capability, particularly in content production, and justONE has become the pre-eminent loyalty agency with data and direct at its core.

Says Jim Moser, Clemenger Group NZ CEO, “We see a growing opportunity in the data, direct and loyalty space in both NZ and Australia. justONE is our group’s strongest agency in the ‘loyalty’ space and we would like to leverage this capability further across the entire group.”

Says Goodale, “We’re shifting into our next stage of growth as a new age agency, allowing us to better utilise our strengths across a wider canvas. justONE has been my ‘baby’ for almost a decade and I’m excited to see it continue to develop and grow.”

Replacing Goodale at .99 is Paul Manning. Manning has spent the last nine years at Ogilvy NZ as executive director based in Auckland. He is highly experienced across all communications’ disciplines particularly retail, shopper, digital, public relations, design, and content production.

Manning founded Metromedia Group in 1999 and served as MD, growing the business from a startup into NZ’s largest independent communications agency. He was named NZ’s EY Young Entrepreneur of the Year while leading Metromedia Group. In 2007, 90 per cent of the company was acquired by STW Group (via Ogilvy).

Says Manning, “I have always admired .99 as a formidable competitor. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this successful agency into its next stage of development reflecting the ever-changing retail market and our client’s needs. I’m looking forward to working alongside Craig Whitehead, the chief creative officer at .99 and its founder.”

Manning will begin his role at .99 in mid-January 2016.
