South Island’s first G-Factory lands at Queenstown Airport

Casio GThe South Island’s first ever Casio G-Factory store launches tomorrow at Queenstown Airport and will become the gateway to the innovative G-Shock brand.

The airport store opening will be followed by a second store in the heart of the Queenstown CBD on August 18.

The G-Factory kiosk store will embody everything about the G-Shock brand with super sleek features, modern fixtures and eye-catching visuals, including images and videos to enhance the products on offer.

G-Factory flagship stores are a true reflection of the successful G-Shock brand and provide an opportunity for customers to view all CASIO sub-brands including G-Shock, Baby-G, Edifice, Oceanus, Sheen and Protrek.

With an increasing amount of foot traffic through Queenstown Airport, the new store is a welcome addition to retail opportunities at the airport.

Queenstown Airport commercial manager, Matthew Day, is “thrilled” that Casio Japan has chosen to invest in Queenstown and believes it will be a great fit.

“This is a real coup – it reflects very well both on our town and our airport,” he said.

“It’s perfect brand positioning by CASIO Japan to invest in Queenstown which is world-renowned as an adventure sports destination, and we can’t wait to have them on board with us.

“The G-Factory kiosk store will be one of the shops that you’ll see when you arrive and the last as you leave, maximising the South Island’s exposure to the G-Shock range. The combination of a central store and an airport outlet enables customers to browse and select their watch at the larger location in town and then pick it up at the airport on their way home, where international visitors can uniquely benefit from duty free on offer.

“The G-Shock brand is all about creating hard-wearing, durable watches with cutting edge technology so it comes as no surprise that Casio has opted to set up shop in Queenstown. These watches are perfect for adrenaline junkies and extreme sports enthusiasts. The G-Factory stores showcase Casio’s best work to date, offering a huge range of revolutionary watches in line with what is seen internationally.

According to Timenz national retail manager, Ryan Park, Timenz made a foray into the New Zealand market with its Auckland Airport outlet and recognised huge potential for a store in the South Island.

“We chose Queenstown because it’s the perfect fit due to the diverse range of visitors that come here, making it a very good proposition for our business.”

The first G-Factory premium store opened in Singapore in September 2013. There are now over 900 G-Factory stores globally, with the target set at 1000 stores by the end of 2016. NZ will now have three G-Factory stores at Auckland Airport, Queenstown CBD and Queenstown Airport.

These pioneering new stores are set to generate a real buzz in Queenstown.

“With the amazing range of watches we have on offer, we hope to create an unforgettable shopping experience which is sure to really take off,” said Park.

The watches are priced from around $200 to $5,000.
