Hunters Plaza refurbishment

Hunters Plaza2A multi-million dollar investment to redevelop Hunters Plaza will see the centre transformed into a more vibrant local shopping destination.

Following the addition of national retailer, Number One Shoes in April, and several new food court and apparel retailers in 2014, Countdown Hunters Plaza is going through a complete refurbishment. This will facilitate easier fresh food and grocery shopping in Papatoetoe.

The refurbishment, scheduled for completion in September, will showcase the latest Countdown format with new flooring, checkouts, fixtures and lighting as well as a new fresh fruit and vegetable department, bakery, deli and butcher.

The centre will be given new tiling throughout and a refurbished Lotto outlet, which will create a brighter and more contemporary shopping environment. This, in addition to Kmart Hunters Plaza being refurbished in 2014, cements the commitment of these strong retailers to the Papatoetoe community.

Upon completion, a second travelator will provide greater convenience for shoppers with improved access from the undercover car park to the mall space in front of Countdown.

“We are fully committed to delivering a fresh and convenient shopping experience for the Papatoetoe community,” said development manager, Phillip Knackstedt.

This project is due for completion late 2015, with the centre trading as normal throughout the redevelopment.

Hunters Plaza first opened in Papatoetoe in 1991 and, almost 25 years later, it is still a vital part of the Papatoetoe community.
