Buyer for classifieds site

Post a notePost A Note has a new owner, with Allied Press having taken a majority stake in the free classifieds website and app.

Based in the South Island, Post A Note is a free, community-based website that allows New Zealanders to connect and buy, sell, and trade goods, promote events, rent a flat, or find a job.

“Around the world, newspapers continue to engage with their local audiences through printed and digital media everyday. Just as we’ve built our community newspaper network across the South Island during the past 10 years, this investment will further serve communities and we are delighted to be involved,” said Sir Julian Smith, Allied Press chairman and MD.

Post A Note allows users to buy and sell anything as long as it’s legal. A team of moderators regularly monitor posts to keep the site free from spam and ensure the content is familyfriendly.

Co-founder, Nathan Weathington, says Post a Note is  like a large community notice board that happens to be on your computer and phone.

“The more listings our users post, the more useful the site becomes to all,” said Weatherington.

“We are constantly adjusting the site to meet our users’ needs. The site has basically been designed by the Post a Note community from the ground up.”
